Breath Support

As I have promised; here is a short, but effective blog about breath support. Breath support is simply a balance of air pressure and vocal cord resistance.

When the upper abdominal s contract and create air pressure; the vocal cords use it to create sound, i.e.; speech and singing, as well as, rap.

The variable balance of these two forces after grooving and mastery, gives us the automatic response from our feelings that are conveyed to our listeners; and causes the magic that we are looking for. Record Producers especially love to work with singers that have this ability. They know that they can get all the emotions from the singer that they need; and never have to limit them or compress them, which is dependent on how loud you yell (excessive air pressure to reach notes).

A limiter is a device that stops your voice from going into digital or analog distortion. The problem is that it also colors the voice in a negative way. Without having to use a limiter/compressor to control your voice (decibel level); the sound is much more organic and classic. This is the way a vocal should sound (special effects excluded). This is true 'Belted Head Voice'.™
