Want To Be a Celebrity?

Your dreams are your first motivator, that's great. Remember, a celebrity is someone that is unique, someone who has put in a lot of extra time using their talent and skills. (This is also the case for great musicians, producers, engineers and mixers.)
Becoming a Celebrity:
Becoming a celebrity can be actually a lot of fun. All the time you spend is something you love doing; so therefore, it can be easier to say ‘no’ to distractions. It's true that the celebrity has talent. In my experience in working with celebrities, I always find out that they started listening and singing along with other singers when they were very, very young.
Focus on Your Talent and NEVER Let It Go!:
Excellent musicians, engineers, producers etc., you’ll find, go to great schools and study very, very hard to become excellent at what they do. Most of them love their craft just as much as a singer. If you're really having a lot of fun becoming a celebrity; then, one of the words that you'll use is ‘no’. It’s seems inevitable that there is always someone out there who wants to pull you away from what you love to do in order to do something with them; so, they want you to say ‘yes’. You think about that and realize that you really love your singing, playing, engineering, or studio/stage work. Therefore, you say ‘no’ (not frittering away your time); and get better and better, and have a great time doing it all at the same time.
Mentors are Critical:
There are always great mentors for celebrities. Sometimes friends, sometimes professionals; but, they always have someone who helps them navigate thru the industry and to the top.
For singing, obviously, I recommend a Vocal Pre-Producer and Producer. It really doesn’t matter what age you are. You are pre-producing whenever you're practicing, writing songs, getting ready for the next show, or getting ready for the next recording session. Pre-Producing is an ongoing process, whether your show or recording session may be a long way away, or in two weeks.
Straight Talk:
Some of my clients may come to me the week of the event (like cramming for a test). I don’t recommend this, because it takes coaching and practice-time to be your best. The key here is to be preparing every day and loving it! (This is your life’s love; and not something that you cram for and then forget.)
Celebrities “Play” A Lot:
Some celebrities say that they worked very hard to get where they are, and I'm sure that there was a lot of hard work involved. But, in my experience with them (based on hanging with them), they were also having a lot of fun. There are probably some celebrities that do work really hard when they practice (and some may suffer - being forced to practice by a parent/coach/teacher/producer etc.). Then, somehow when they get on the stage, they start having fun, and being exhilarated by their love of performing.
My suggestion is that you always have a great time - meeting with your producers/band members, playing your guitar, working with your microphone, learning how to sing the way people really want to hear you, and expressing your emotions (your signature voice.)
Surround Yourself with a Great Professional Team:
Great celebrities, who are in the business, always have a great team around them. Sometimes that team may change, but, most of them work their voices every day; and the producer's work their equipment every day, etc.… Producers are constantly looking at new equipment, and at new philosophies of how to get emotions out of their musicians and singers.
The main thing to remember here is for artists to sing a lot, for musicians to play a lot, and for producers to work with their equipment a lot. Then, you all eventually get together in the studio or on stage, and there is where the magic happens. This is what your fans hunger for…
Having a Great Time on your Journey:
Training every day, using coaches every week, networking with other artists and musicians, networking with producers and investors are all part of becoming a celebrity.
Fans “Eat It Up”:
The audience can always tell by the feel of the performing artist, whether they have played a lot or not. “If you pay your dues, your dues will pay you back”. Always have fun during pre-production and while performing; the audience (or record buyers) will “eat it up” – they are hungry for great performances by performers having fun at the event with them. It’s important to duplicate the same great performances while tracking your vocals with the producer… and have fun at that too.
